I have a friend who unfortunately is facing bankruptcy due to some heavy credit card debt. He took on this debt through some bad business and investment decisions. I was hoping to find some good online sources for him for completing his bankruptcy inexpensively. But it seems that unlike for other legal services, bankruptcy is something that is best handled personally by a local attorney. The best advice I can give is to shop around and find someone who can do it inexpensively but who also has experience (and evident competence) in handling bankruptcies. I was surprised to see so few good online options available. Perhaps there are some good bankruptcy websites that don’t rank well in the search engines and good benefit from more website traffic. But I think instead the issue is that each case is unique and not cookie cutter like other legal issues that can be solved for example by LegalZoom or some similar company. Anyway, I’ll keep looking.
